AI Visibility Share of Voice
The Share of Voice Chart shows how often AI platforms mention a brand compared to competitors — revealing where brand visibility stands in AI-generated responses.
Quick start
1. Select a project from the project selector
2. Set the date range to 30 Days
3. Review the stacked area chart — the taller a brand's section, the stronger its share
4. Adjust Provider Depth to narrow focus to top recommendations
5. Export the chart or add annotations to mark significant dates
Understanding the display
The chart displays a stacked area graph that always totals 100% for each day. Every colour represents a brand — your brand appears grouped as "Your Brands" by default, with competitors shown alongside it. The taller a brand's coloured section on any given day, the greater its share of AI mentions.

| Element | What it means |
| Stacked area chart | Shows the percentage breakdown of AI mentions across tracked brands each day |
| Coloured sections | Each colour represents one brand or competitor |
| Y-axis (0–100%) | Share of AI mentions for that day |
| Tooltip on hover | Shows exact date, brand name, and percentage |
| Dashed vertical lines | Annotations marking specific dates |
What should I do next?
Use the chart state to decide where to focus effort:
| What you see | Action |
| Your brand dominates and share is holding | Protect current visibility. Avoid major content changes without a clear plan. |
| Your share is declining week on week | Review content strategy. Check whether competitors have published new material. |
| Competitors consistently outrank your brand | Change Provider Depth to Top 3 or #1 Recommendation to see where the gap is sharpest. |
| Share improving steadily | Continue current strategy. Use annotations to mark what changed and when. |
| Flat line across all brands | Check the date range — narrow ranges with low query volumes produce flat data. |
Understanding provider depth
Provider Depth controls which AI mentions count towards share. Adjusting this filter changes the picture significantly — a brand with broad awareness but few primary recommendations will score differently at each level.
| Setting | What counts |
| Mentioned Anywhere | Any brand mention in an AI response, regardless of position |
| Top 3 Recommendations | Only mentions where the brand appears within the top three recommendations |
| #1 Recommendation | Only mentions where the brand is the primary recommendation |
Using the filters
Date range
The date range controls the period shown in the chart. Longer ranges reveal trends; shorter ranges highlight recent shifts.
| Option | Best for |
| 7 Days | Checking recent changes or campaign impact |
| 30 Days | Standard trend analysis (default) |
| 90 Days | Medium-term visibility patterns |
| 180 Days | Long-term competitive landscape |
| Custom | Specific date ranges, such as a campaign period |
Phase
Phase filters results by buying journey stage — for example, awareness, consideration, or decision. Select a specific phase to see how brand visibility varies depending on where a customer is in their journey.
Platform
Platform filters results by AI platform or model. Use this to compare visibility across different AI environments and identify where the brand is strongest.
Configuration
Configuration narrows results to a specific set of tracked queries. Multiple configurations can exist within a single project — select the relevant one to focus the analysis.
Adding annotations
Annotations mark significant dates on the chart — useful for tracking when a campaign launched, content published, or a competitor made a move. Each annotation appears as a dashed vertical line with a label.
To add an annotation:
6. Click anywhere on the chart area at the relevant date
7. Enter a label in the popover that appears
8. Press Enter or click Save
To delete an annotation, click its label directly on the chart and confirm the deletion.
Interactive features
• Hover over any point to see the exact date, brand name, and share percentage.
• Click legend items to show or hide individual brands — useful when the chart is busy.
• Export via the menu icon (⋮) to download as PNG, JPEG, or SVG.
Troubleshooting
No data showing
The selected filters are likely too restrictive, or tracking has not yet collected data for this period.
• Expand the date range to include a broader window.
• Check the project selector — data only appears when a project is selected.
• Verify tracking is active and that queries have been running for the selected period.
Chart shows only one brand
This happens when competitors are not yet configured or have not appeared in AI responses during the selected period.
• Check AI settings to confirm competitor brands are configured for the project.
• Widen the date range — competitors may appear more consistently over longer periods.
Provider depth not changing results
If share looks identical across all depth settings, the tracked queries may return only single-recommendation responses. This is expected for certain query types.
Annotations not saving
The annotation popover requires a label before saving. Ensure text has been entered, then press Enter or click Save.
FAQ
What counts as a mention?
A mention is recorded when a brand name appears in an AI-generated response for a tracked query. Provider Depth controls whether all mentions count or only those in top positions.
Why are my brands grouped as "Your Brands"?
When a project has multiple brand names belonging to the same company, the chart groups them for clarity. This prevents the chart from fragmenting visibility across several entries that effectively represent one organisation.
How is share calculated?
Each day, the total mentions across all displayed brands are counted. Each brand's share is its mentions divided by the daily total, expressed as a percentage. The chart stacks these to 100%.
Can specific competitors be shown or hidden?
Yes. Click any legend item to toggle that brand on or off. The chart recalculates shares based on visible brands.
Why does share appear to jump on some days?
Daily variation is normal — AI platforms return different results based on query phrasing, model updates, and content changes. Focus on weekly or monthly trends rather than individual data points.
Getting help
9. Adjust the date range or filters — narrowing scope often resolves display issues.
10. Check the project configuration to confirm brands and competitors are set up correctly.
