Referrer Traffic by Page
View detailed referrer-to-page combinations—showing exactly which external sources send traffic to which pages, with session counts and device breakdowns in a sortable, exportable format.
Quick start
1. Select the domain to view referrer traffic data
2. Optionally filter to a specific page using the table’s Page dropdown
3. Click column headers to sort by Page URL, Referrer, Device, or Sessions
4. Review the session bars to quickly identify high-traffic combinations
5. Click Export CSV to download the full dataset for further analysis
Understanding the display
The table shows every combination of page, referrer, and device type with the total sessions for each. Each row represents a unique combination—the same page can appear multiple times with different referrers or devices.

Table columns
| Column | Description |
| Page URL | The destination page receiving traffic from this referrer |
| Referrer | The external source sending traffic (hidden when filtered to a specific referrer) |
| Device | The device type for this traffic (Desktop, Mobile, or Tablet) |
| Sessions | Total sessions for this combination, with a visual bar showing relative volume |
The session bar provides a quick visual comparison—longer bars indicate higher session counts relative to other rows in the current view.
Visual indicators
| Element | Meaning |
| Long session bar | High-traffic combination relative to others in the table |
| "Direct" referrer | Traffic with no referrer data (direct visits, bookmarks, or stripped referrers) |
| Device badge colours | Blue = Desktop, Pink = Mobile, Orange = Tablet |
| Sort arrow on column | Indicates active sort column and direction (ascending or descending) |
What should I do next?
The table helps identify specific traffic patterns:
| Pattern | Action |
| One referrer dominates a page | That page’s traffic depends heavily on one source. Diversify or nurture that relationship. |
| Page receives traffic from many referrers | Content resonates broadly. Consider creating similar content or strengthening that page’s conversion path. |
| Referrer sends traffic to many pages | Valuable partner or link source. Prioritise relationship-building or seek similar opportunities. |
| Mobile sessions dominate for a referrer | That traffic source skews mobile. Ensure landing pages are mobile-optimised. |
| Unexpected referrer appears | Someone new is linking to your content. Investigate the source and consider engagement. |
Using the controls
Page selector
The table has its own page dropdown (separate from the global dashboard filter). Select a specific page to see only referrers sending traffic to that page. Select “All Pages” to see all combinations across the domain.
Rows per page
Control how many rows appear per page. Options range from 10 to 100. Higher values show more data but may load more slowly.
Sorting
Click any column header to sort by that column. Click again to reverse the sort order. The default sort is by Sessions (highest first). Sorting helps identify top performers or find specific pages or referrers.
Global filters
The table responds to the dashboard’s global filters for Referrer, Date Range, and Device. When a specific referrer is selected globally, the Referrer column hides since all rows share that value.
Exporting data
Click Export CSV to download the full dataset matching current filters. The export includes up to 10,000 rows regardless of the current pagination setting. The CSV file includes Page URL, Referrer (if not filtered), Device, and Sessions columns.
Troubleshooting
No data appears
Ensure a domain is selected. The table requires domain selection to display data. If filters are too restrictive, expand the date range or select “All” for referrer, device, and page filters.
Table loads slowly
Large datasets with many combinations take longer to load. Reduce the rows per page setting or apply filters to narrow the data. The initial load aggregates all matching combinations.
Session counts seem low
The table shows sessions per combination, not total page sessions. A page with 1,000 total sessions may show as multiple rows of 50-200 sessions each when split by referrer and device.
Referrer column is missing
When a specific referrer is selected in the global filter, the Referrer column hides since all rows share the same referrer. Select “All Referrers” to see the column again.
FAQ
Why do rows show the same page multiple times?
Each row represents a unique combination of page, referrer, and device. The same page appears multiple times when it receives traffic from different referrers or different device types.
What does the session bar represent?
The bar width shows sessions relative to the highest value in the current view. The longest bar equals 100% of the maximum; other bars scale proportionally.
How many rows can be exported?
Exports include up to 10,000 rows matching the current filters. For larger datasets, apply filters to narrow the scope before exporting.
Why is pagination needed?
Sites with many pages and referrers generate thousands of combinations. Pagination keeps the interface responsive while allowing access to all data through navigation or export.
