Manage Brands and Competitors

AI Visibility Settings tells Wheremore which brand names belong to your organisation and which competitors should be used for comparison. These settings help the AI Visibility dashboard distinguish your brand from other providers mentioned in AI responses.

Overview

Settings are saved separately for each project. They control how dashboard reports such as Share of Voice, Competitive Win Rate and sentiment comparisons group provider mentions.

The settings panel contains:

  • Your Brands — the company, product and recognised brand names that should count as your organisation.
  • Default Competitors — up to eight comparison brands shown by default in relevant AI Visibility reports.
  • Discovered Brands — providers Wheremore has found in recent AI responses for the selected project.

These settings organise reporting. They do not change the monitoring questions, AI platforms or processing days in your tracking configurations.

Before you begin

Make sure:

  • the correct workspace is selected;
  • the relevant project has an active AI Visibility configuration;
  • at least one monitoring cycle has completed if you want Wheremore to suggest discovered brands; and
  • you know the principal names buyers and AI platforms use for your company or product.

Open AI Visibility Settings

  1. Open the AI Visibility Dashboard.
  2. Select the required project.
  3. Select Configure.
  4. Wait for the settings panel to load.

The panel always applies to the project selected in the dashboard. If you change project, open the panel again and review that project’s settings.

Set Your Brands

Use Your Brands for every relevant name that should count as your organisation in AI responses.

This can include:

  • the company name;
  • the principal product or platform name;
  • a well-known abbreviated name; and
  • a distinct public brand variation used by customers or AI platforms.

To add a brand:

  1. Find it in the discovered-brand list.
  2. Select the add control beside the brand.
  3. Confirm it appears under Your Brands.

To remove a brand, select the remove control on its chip.

At least one of your brands is required before the settings can be saved.

Choose aliases carefully

Only add a variation when it genuinely refers to your organisation. Broad terms such as “Analytics”, “Cloud” or “Platform” can also describe competitors and may make the report misleading.

Wheremore treats names without regard to letter case when preventing duplicates. A name cannot be both one of Your Brands and a Default Competitor.

Select Default Competitors

Default Competitors are the providers you most often want to compare with your organisation.

To add a competitor:

  1. Find the provider in the discovered-brand list.
  2. Select the add control.
  3. Confirm it appears under Default Competitors.

You can select up to eight default competitors. Remove an existing competitor before adding another if the limit has been reached.

Default competitors should normally be:

  • direct alternatives buyers may evaluate;
  • providers that regularly appear beside your brand;
  • market leaders that shape buyer expectations; or
  • strategically important emerging competitors.

Do not add every provider that has been mentioned. A focused comparison set makes the charts easier to interpret.

Understand discovered brands

Wheremore builds the discovered-brand list from provider names found in completed AI responses for the selected project during the most recent 90 calendar days.

The number beside a provider is the number of distinct monitored responses in which that provider was identified. It is a discovery aid, not a market-share percentage or recommendation score.

New projects may show few or no discovered brands until monitoring results have been processed.

Save the settings

  1. Review Your Brands.
  2. Review Default Competitors.
  3. Select Save.
  4. Wait for the confirmation message.

Save becomes available after the settings have changed. If you try to close the panel with unsaved changes, Wheremore asks whether you want to discard them.

After saving, Wheremore refreshes the affected AI Visibility reports using the new grouping. Historical AI responses are not changed or reprocessed; the reporting layer interprets the existing provider data using the updated settings.

Start with:

  • one clear primary company or product name under Your Brands;
  • only necessary public aliases;
  • three to five direct competitors; and
  • no generic category terms.

Review the list periodically. Add a newly important competitor when it appears consistently, and remove providers that are no longer useful comparisons.

How settings affect reports

Your Brands can affect:

  • Share of Voice;
  • Competitive Win Rate;
  • customer-journey visibility;
  • sentiment reporting;
  • citation and conversation comparisons; and
  • AI analysis of competitive performance.

Default Competitors determines the comparison set used by reports that show selected competitor series.

Changing these settings can therefore move chart values even when the underlying AI responses have not changed. Record significant settings changes when comparing performance over time.

Troubleshooting

Select a project to configure AI Visibility

Choose a project in the dashboard first. Confirm it belongs to the active workspace and that you have access to it.

Settings could not be loaded

Retry the request. If it continues:

  • confirm the project is still available in the workspace;
  • reload the page; and
  • check that your session is still active.

Save is unavailable

Make a change first. Also confirm at least one name remains under Your Brands.

A brand cannot be added

The name may already be selected, may already appear in the other group, or the eight-competitor limit may have been reached.

A known provider is missing

The discovered list only uses provider names identified in recent completed responses. Let another monitoring cycle finish, or confirm that the provider is actually present in the structured response data.

Charts did not change after saving

Allow the dashboard to refresh. If necessary, close the panel, reload the dashboard and confirm that the correct project remains selected.

The report combines or separates names unexpectedly

Review the aliases under Your Brands. Remove generic or unrelated names. AI platforms can use several product names for one vendor, so only add aliases that you deliberately want counted together.
