Conversion Performance Over Time
Performance over time charts the selected path day by day. Three tabs report a different measure across the same days: Conversion rate, Sessions and Configured value.
Every reading is grouped by the date the session started the path, not the date a conversion completed. A conversion that finished a week after entry is counted on the entry date, which keeps each day's rate consistent with its own cohort.
Choose a measure
| Tab | What each point shows |
|---|---|
| Conversion rate | Converting sessions as a percentage of that day's starting sessions |
| Sessions | Converting sessions that started the path on that day |
| Configured value | The configured value of completions from that day's starting sessions |
Configured value reports one currency at a time. Where completions carry more than one currency, a selector appears beside the chart and the chart title names the currency in view. Currencies are never combined into a single line.
Read the chart
The solid line is the selected period. Where a previous-period comparison is available, it appears as a dashed line, plotted day by day against the selected period so equivalent days align.
Hovering a point reports the series, the date, the measure and the starting sessions behind it. That last figure matters most on the rate tab, where a high percentage can rest on very few sessions.
Beneath the chart, notes explain the grouping and any condition affecting the readings, such as an unavailable comparison or incomplete coverage.
Gaps, zeros and blank days
A gap in the line and a zero mean different things, and the chart keeps them apart deliberately.
| What appears | Meaning |
|---|---|
| A plotted zero | The day was inside the recorded history and genuinely had no converting sessions or no configured value. |
| A gap in the line | The day has no usable reading: it predates the recorded history for this path, no sessions started, or the measure's coverage is incomplete. |
Days without starting sessions have no conversion rate, because a rate needs a denominator. Days with unavailable outcomes are also left blank on the rate tab, and days with completions of unknown value are left blank on the value tab, rather than being reported as lower figures.
Unrecorded history is never filled with zeros. A path that began recording partway through the selected period shows a gap before that point, not a flat line at the bottom of the chart.
When the chart cannot be drawn
Where no day in the period has a usable reading for the chosen measure, the panel reports that instead of drawing an empty chart. On the Configured value tab this also appears when no configured currency is available for the selection.
If the charting library is unavailable in the browser, the panel reports that and shows the same daily readings as a table, with a row per date and a column per period. The table carries the same figures as the chart.
Troubleshooting
The line stops partway through the period
The days after the break have no usable reading. On the rate tab this usually means no sessions started the path on those days, so no rate exists for them. Switch to the Sessions tab to confirm.
Daily conversion rates do not average to the headline rate
The headline rate divides all converting sessions by all starting sessions across the period. Averaging daily percentages weights a day with two sessions as heavily as a day with two hundred, and will differ. Use the headline figure in Conversion overview.
A conversion appears on the wrong date
Readings are grouped by the date the session entered the path. A conversion that completed days later still belongs to its entry date, which is what makes each day's cohort comparable.
No previous-period line appears
The comparison needs both periods to fall within the recorded history for the selected path. The notes beneath the chart and the period line beneath the dashboard controls explain which condition applies.
The value line shows zero on days with conversions
A day reports zero configured value only where its coverage is complete and no value was configured. Where some completions have unknown values, the day is left blank instead, so check the note beneath the chart.
