Ask Wheremore
Ask Wheremore is the agentic AI assistant built into Wheremore. It explains features, answers questions using supported workspace data, interprets analysis results and uses Wheremore tools to help complete approved actions.
Overview
Ask Wheremore brings product guidance and business data into one conversation. Instead of moving between reports to find an answer, ask a question in plain English and receive a response based on the current Wheremore context.
“Agentic” means Ask Wheremore can select and use the appropriate Wheremore tools for the task. It can retrieve current information, investigate a question across supported data and complete available actions after receiving confirmation. It does not make unapproved changes independently.
It can help with three broad types of task:
- Understand Wheremore: Learn how a feature works, follow a process or troubleshoot a problem.
- Explore workspace data: Ask about supported rankings, content, visibility, conversion and task data.
- Interpret an analysis: Discuss a completed report, examine its evidence and understand the recommended next steps.
Ask Wheremore is context-aware. When opened as the general assistant, it uses the current page and available workspace selections. When opened from an analysis, it receives that analysis and its findings as conversation context.
It is not a replacement for the reports themselves. Ask Wheremore retrieves and explains available information, while the underlying Wheremore features remain the source of the data.
Quick start
- Open Ask Wheremore from the navigation or a supported analysis.
- Choose a suggested question or enter your own.
- Add the feature, metric or time period needed for a focused answer.
- Review the response and ask a follow-up question when more detail is needed.
- Confirm any action before Ask Wheremore saves or creates something.
Choose the right mode
Ask Wheremore uses one chat panel with two modes.
| Mode | Best for |
|---|---|
| Assistant | Understanding Wheremore, exploring workspace data and getting help with the current page |
| Analysis | Asking follow-up questions about a completed analysis |
The navigation button is context-aware. It opens a recent analysis conversation when relevant analysis context is available; otherwise, it opens the general assistant.
Use the options menu to switch between Assistant and a recent analysis when both are available.
Open Ask Wheremore
From the navigation
Open Ask Wheremore from the global navigation for general help or questions about workspace data. It recognises the current page and uses available context such as the workspace, search group and filters.
From the welcome page
Enter a question in the welcome-page box or select a suggested prompt. The question opens in Ask Wheremore and sends when the chat session is ready.
From an analysis
Select Chat about this analysis in a supported report. Ask Wheremore opens in Analysis mode with that report's data and findings already available.
Examples of supported analysis conversations include Average Position, Keyword Summary, SERP Features, Content Comparison and other analysis reports across Wheremore.
Ask effective questions
Start with the outcome, then add scope when it matters.
| Goal | Example question |
|---|---|
| Understand a feature | How do annotations work? |
| Review rankings | Which keywords are declining in this search group? |
| Investigate one keyword | What changed for this keyword over the last 30 days? |
| Prioritise work | What should I focus on first? |
| Understand an analysis | Why was this action given immediate priority? |
| Explore content | Which content is stale or missing from the customer journey? |
| Review visibility | Where is the brand losing visibility across AI platforms? |
Ask follow-up questions naturally. The active conversation retains its earlier messages and context until the session ends or expires.
Understand the context used
Current-page context
In Assistant mode, Ask Wheremore can recognise the current Wheremore page. Where available, it also receives the active workspace, search group and filters.
This context helps it interpret phrases such as “these keywords” or “this page”. Include the exact scope in the question when several projects, groups or time periods are relevant.
Analysis context
In Analysis mode, Ask Wheremore receives the selected analysis data and report. This allows questions about specific findings, evidence and recommended next steps without restating the report.
Analysis context is temporary. Start a fresh analysis when the previous results are no longer available or no longer reflect the required scope.
Live workspace data
Ask Wheremore can retrieve current data when a question requires it. Depending on the available Wheremore features and workspace setup, this can include:
- Keyword rankings and position history
- Action Board tasks and priorities
- Content performance, coverage and link health
- AI visibility, competitors, sentiment and citations
- Conversions, channels, attribution and funnels
- SERP features and Google AI Overview citations
- Content clusters, topics and outlines
If several projects match a request, Ask Wheremore will use the available project context or ask for the missing detail.
Review actions before saving
Ask Wheremore can support write actions such as creating an Action Board task or saving approved content-planning work.
It confirms the relevant details before completing a write action. Review the project, title, priority and content, then provide clear confirmation such as “Yes, create it” or “Save these topics”.
A success message confirms when the action has completed. If no confirmation appears, check the destination before repeating the request.
Use the chat panel
Suggested questions
Suggested questions reflect the current page or analysis. Select one to send it immediately, or use it as a starting point for a more specific question.
Resize or detach
Drag the panel edge to change its width. Select Detach window to turn it into a floating panel, then drag its header to reposition it. Select Re-attach window to return it to the side of the screen.
Close and resume
Closing the panel does not immediately end the active session. Reopen Ask Wheremore to continue the conversation, including after navigating to another Wheremore page while the session remains active.
Each session lasts for up to 60 minutes from when it starts. The session bar shows the message count and remaining time.
The conversation and its mode remain available during that period, even when the panel is closed or another Wheremore page is opened. The timer does not restart when a new message is sent.
When the timer reaches zero, the session expires and its conversation context can no longer be continued. Start a new chat and, when needed, reopen or rerun the relevant analysis.
Manage the conversation
Open the options menu to:
- Switch between Assistant and a recent analysis
- Start a new chat
- Download the transcript
- Email the transcript
- End the session
Starting a new chat clears the current conversation. Ending the session closes the conversation and removes its active session context.
What should I do next?
| Situation | Action |
|---|---|
| The answer is too broad | Add a project, search group, keyword, date range or platform. |
| A result needs explanation | Ask which evidence produced the finding. |
| Current data is required | Ask for the named metric and reporting period. |
| An analysis needs more context | Switch to Analysis mode or open chat from the report. |
| The recommendation is useful | Ask for the next step, then confirm any action before saving. |
| The conversation is no longer relevant | Start a new chat. |
Troubleshooting
The chat does not open
- Refresh the Wheremore page.
- Open Ask Wheremore from the navigation.
- If the problem continues, record the current page and contact support.
A session has expired
Ask Wheremore sessions last for up to 60 minutes. Select Start new chat and ask the question again after expiry. Reopen or rerun the relevant analysis first when its results are required.
Ask Wheremore uses the wrong scope
State the required workspace, project, search group, keyword or date range in the next message. Start a new chat if the existing conversation is based on a different task.
Analysis context is missing
Return to the report and select Chat about this analysis. Rerun the analysis when the previous analysis is no longer available.
Live data is unavailable
Confirm that the relevant feature is configured and contains data for the selected workspace. Broaden the filters or reporting period when the current selection contains no results.
A response stops or shows an error
Send the question again after the error clears. Start a new chat if the session has expired, then contact support if repeated requests fail.
A requested action was not completed
Check that the project and required details were confirmed. Look for a success message and verify the destination before asking Ask Wheremore to repeat the action.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ask Wheremore know which page is open?
Yes. Assistant mode receives the current page type and, where available, the active workspace, search group and filters.
Does Ask Wheremore automatically know about an analysis?
Ask Wheremore uses a recent analysis when opened from that report or when relevant recent analysis context is available. The panel indicates when the conversation is continuing in Analysis mode.
Can Ask Wheremore change data without confirmation?
Write actions require confirmation. Review the proposed project, task or content before approving it.
Can a conversation continue on another page?
Yes. An active session can be resumed after page navigation during its 60-minute session window.
Can I keep a copy of the conversation?
Yes. Use the options menu to download or email the transcript.
Is Ask Wheremore the same as Conversation Discovery?
No. Ask Wheremore is the general and analysis-aware assistant. Conversation Discovery is a guided workflow for defining an audience and generating questions to track across AI platforms.
Is “Tell Wheremore what to change” the same chat?
No. That control applies one instruction to a specific draft section. It does not open the general Ask Wheremore conversation.
Getting help
Record the current page, mode, workspace and displayed error before contacting support. Include the analysis type or question when the issue relates to a specific response.
