Search Performance AI Analysis

Search Performance AI analysis investigates one tracked keyword. It explains what changed in its ranking, when it changed, what the evidence suggests and whether an action is worth taking.

What you can do

Let Wheremore find the keywords most worth reviewing, or choose a keyword yourself. The analysis runs in the background and saves a report you can reopen, export or delete.

Each report combines ranking history, other keywords using the same page, other search engines, selected competitors, search-result features and AI Overviews. The analysis reads recorded results only. It does not visit the ranking page or view the live search result.

Before you start

Set the dashboard filters first. The analysis uses the selected search market, category, search engine and date range.

The market needs completed ranking checks in the selected period. Detailed search-result evidence is available only from the date Wheremore began retaining it, so older periods produce more limited reports.

Quick start

  1. Select Analyse with AI.
  2. Check the scope shown under Keyword analysis.
  3. Under What would you like to analyse?, choose Find priority keywords or A specific keyword.
  4. For priority keywords, select Find priority keywords, then choose one of the suggested keywords.
  5. For a specific keyword, choose it from Keyword.
  6. Select Run analysis.
  7. Wait for the report, or close the panel and return to Recent later.
  8. Review the Analysis and Evidence tabs.

Open the analysis panel

Analyse with AI opens the Search Performance panel on the right. It has two tabs:

Tab Purpose
New analysis Choose a keyword and run an analysis.
Recent Reopen, export or delete saved reports for this market.

The scope box lists Search market, Engine, Category and Period. To change the scope, close the panel and change the dashboard filters. Changing a filter closes the panel and clears any suggested keywords.

Find priority keywords

Select Find priority keywords. Wheremore reviews the keywords in scope and suggests up to 10 worth investigating. This step does not use AI or credits.

Each suggestion shows the keyword and its strongest reason, for example:

  • Your domain left the organic top 10
  • A competitor moved ahead of your result
  • Your presence in a search-result feature was lost
  • The keyword is visible on page one with room to improve

Suggestions favour keywords that stopped ranking, material declines, keywords leaving page one, ranking page changes, lost AI Overview citations and lost search-result features. Keywords close to page one, newly ranking keywords and strong improvements also qualify. Stable top-three keywords with no other change are left out.

Choose a keyword, then select Run analysis. If nothing qualifies, the panel shows No priority keywords were identified. Choose a specific keyword instead.

Analyse a specific keyword

Select A specific keyword, then choose from Keyword. The list contains the keywords tracked in the selected market and category.

Select Run analysis.

Follow the progress

The panel shows four steps: Preparing, Inspecting, Analysing and Saving. The button reads Analysis in progress… until the report is ready.

You can close the panel or leave the page. The analysis continues in the background, and the finished report appears in Recent.

When the report is ready and the panel is open, the report opens beside the panel.

One analysis at a time in a market

Permissions are workspace-based, so the panel follows any analysis already running in the selected market, including one started by a colleague. The panel shows Reconnecting to the analysis for [keyword]… and Run analysis stays unavailable until that analysis finishes.

Starting the same keyword again with the same filters while it is running reconnects to the existing analysis.

AI analysis or evidence summary

Wheremore first checks whether the evidence justifies an AI investigation.

Report type When it is produced Credits
AI analysis A material ranking movement has enough surrounding evidence, a pattern points to a specialist review, or the current result shows a feature or AI Overview opportunity. Used once the report is saved
Evidence summary No material movement needs investigating, or the recorded evidence cannot support a safe explanation. Not used

An evidence summary sets out the recorded facts without an explanation or a recommendation. Each run of an AI analysis is a separate charge, including a repeat of the same keyword.

Read the report

The report opens in the Analysis report pane. On narrower screens it replaces the panel; select the back arrow to return.

Report header

The header shows the keyword, creation time, market, search engine, period and report type. The headline states the main finding, with the date of the movement where it can be established.

Assessment summarises the conclusion in a few sentences.

An AI analysis includes at most one recommendation, and only when the evidence supports a decision you can act on.

Part What it shows
Label The action type, such as Investigation, Opportunity or Risk, followed by Search Performance
What to do The specific action
Why it is worth doing The evidence behind it
Suggested workflow Content Comparison, Page Optimisation or Keyword Cannibalisation, where one applies
Priority Immediate, Near term or Can wait

When no action is justified, the report says No action was recommended from the available evidence. Recommendations from this analysis cannot be added to the Board.

Ranking overview

Cards show Current ranking and Period average, with the comparison-period value where one exists. A Ranking page card appears when a ranking page was recorded.

What happened

A dated account of the ranking movement, based on the recorded results.

Supporting analysis

Expandable sections explain the reasoning.

Section Contents
Explanation and confidence The most likely explanation, the reasoning and a confidence level
Findings Each dated change that matters, with why it matters
Ranking history How the keyword ranked across the period
Other keywords using this page Whether other keywords on the same page moved too, with a comparison table
Other search engines Period averages for each tracked engine
Competitor movement Selected competitors' positions for this keyword
Search-result features Changes to features around the movement
AI Overview Whether an AI Overview appeared and whether its sources changed

Sections appear only when relevant evidence exists.

The possible explanations are:

Explanation Meaning
SERP shift The search result itself changed around the movement.
Customer page signal The same page weakened across several keywords, pointing to a page-level issue.
Competitor movement Competitors moved ahead across several keywords.
Ranking page instability Different pages from your website alternated as the ranking page.
Engine-specific change The selected engine moved differently from other tracked engines.
Normal volatility The ranking is within normal fluctuation. Used when the report focuses on a current feature or AI Overview opportunity.
Mixed or insufficient evidence The evidence does not identify one clear cause.

An explanation describes likelihood, not proof. Confidence is Low, Moderate or High, and is limited by how much detailed evidence surrounds the movement.

Scope and evidence notes

These notes list limits on the conclusions, such as incomplete result checks or the ranking page content not being inspected.

Review the evidence

The Evidence tab lists the retained facts behind the report: current ranking, period average, ranking page, verified search-result observations, dated changes and comparison figures. Reports saved before this evidence was retained show their original content instead.

Export a report

Select Export report in the report pane. The download is a standalone HTML file containing the analysis and its evidence. Export any report you want to keep beyond the retained history.

Manage saved reports in Recent

Recent lists every saved report for the selected market in the workspace, whatever the current category, engine or period. Each card shows the report title, the keyword, the market, engine, period and report type, and when it was created. Reports you have not opened show New.

The card title and the report headline can differ. The title names the report; the headline states the main finding.

Select a card to open its report. Select Load more to see older reports.

Delete a report

Select Delete on a card, then Delete report to confirm. Any workspace member with access to the market can delete a report. Deleted reports cannot be restored.

How long reports are kept

Wheremore keeps the latest five reports for each keyword and search engine, counted separately for AI analyses and evidence summaries. Older reports are removed automatically. Category and date range do not create separate groups, so analysing the same keyword for different periods counts towards the same five.

Troubleshooting

Run analysis is unavailable

Choose a keyword first. If an analysis is already running in the market, wait for it to finish.

Could not check active analyses

Close the panel and open it again.

The dashboard data changed while the analysis was being opened

New ranking data arrived. Refresh the page and run the analysis again.

The analysis evidence expired

Too much time passed between preparing and starting the analysis. Select Run analysis again.

The analysis needs attention

Follow the message shown and do not start repeated runs. A message that the credit deduction or supplier usage needs review means the analysis was retained but is not yet saved to Recent. Contact support if it does not appear.

The connection ended before a result was received

The analysis continues on the server. Open Recent to check for the report.

The report has no recommendation

The evidence did not justify an action, or the report is an evidence summary.

The report says detailed results do not cover the movement

Detailed search-result history does not reach back to when the ranking changed. The report records the movement but cannot explain it with confidence.

A report disappeared from Recent

It was deleted by a workspace member, or it was replaced by five newer reports for the same keyword and engine.
