Understanding the display

The page has two main areas: competitor selection at the top and configured competitors below.
Competitor selection
| Element | Purpose |
| Search Group dropdown | Selects which keyword set to configure competitors for |
| Search Engine dropdown | Filters competitors by search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo) |
| Available Competitors list | Shows domains ranking for tracked keywords, sorted by shared keyword count |
| Selected Competitors list | Domains chosen for tracking (maximum 10) |
The number next to each competitor shows how many tracked keywords that domain ranks for. Higher numbers indicate more direct competition.
Configured competitors table
The lower section displays all competitor configurations. Each row shows a search group, search engine, and the selected competitors. Edit and delete buttons appear in the actions column.

What should I do next?
| Situation | Action |
| No competitors configured | Add competitors for your most important search groups first |
| Available list is empty | Rankings need time to accumulate data. Check back after the next ranking update. |
| Too many potential competitors | Focus on domains with the highest shared keyword counts |
| Competitor no longer relevant | Edit the configuration and remove them from the selected list |
| Rankings changed, new competitors appearing | Review and update competitor selections quarterly |
Using the filters
Search group
A search group is a collection of tracked keywords, typically organised by website, location, or device type. Example: "example.com – UK – Desktop"
Competitors are configured per search group. The same domain might be a competitor in one market but not another.
Search engine
Different search engines show different results. A domain ranking highly on Google may not appear on Bing. Configure competitors separately for each search engine where rankings differ significantly.
Domain filter
The domain filter in the configured competitors table narrows the view to a specific website. This helps when managing multiple domains within one workspace.
How competitor data is used
SERP360 captures competitor positions during ranking checks. This data powers several features:
• Average Position Chart – Competitor trend lines appear as dotted lines alongside site performance
• AI Analysis – Recommendations include content gaps based on competitor pages
• Keyword tables – Filter to see which competitors rank for specific keywords
Troubleshooting
No search groups available
The current workspace has no domains with tracked keywords.
• Switch to a different workspace
• Add keywords to a domain in this workspace first
Available competitors list is empty
SERP360 needs ranking data to identify competitors. This happens when:
• Keywords were recently added and ranking checks have not completed
• All tracked keywords show no competitors in search results
Wait 24–48 hours after adding keywords, then check again.
Competitor data not appearing in charts
Competitor positions are captured during ranking checks. After adding competitors:
• Wait for the next scheduled ranking check (typically within 24 hours)
• Verify the competitor is selected (not just available)
• Check the competitor ranks for keywords in that search group
Cannot add more than 10 competitors
The 10-competitor limit exists per search group and search engine combination. To track more competitors, focus on those with the highest shared keyword counts—these provide the most useful comparison data.
FAQ
What does the shared keywords number mean?
This count shows how many of the tracked keywords in that search group the competitor also ranks for. Higher numbers indicate more direct competition.
Can the same competitor be added to multiple search groups?
Yes. Competitor configurations are independent per search group and search engine. A domain can be tracked as a competitor wherever relevant.
How often is the available competitors list updated?
The list refreshes each time a search group and search engine keywords are tracked. It reflects the most recent ranking data.
Does removing a competitor delete historical data?
No. Historical competitor data remains in reports. Removing a competitor stops future data collection for that domain.
