Search Performance KPIs

Search Performance KPIs summarises the selected search market in four headline measures and compares each with the previous period.

What the overview shows

The overview sits at the top of the Search Performance dashboard. Beneath the heading, the selected period and the comparison period are shown, for example: 17 Aug 2026 – 15 Sept 2026 · compared with 18 Jul 2026 – 16 Aug 2026.

Card What it measures
Keywords ranking The share of scheduled keywords ranking in positions 1–100
Page-one visibility The share of tracked monthly search volume attached to keywords ranking in positions 1–10
Average position The average position of your ranking keywords. Lower is better.
Ranking movement Positions gained minus positions lost among keywords ranking on both comparison dates

Each card shows the current value, the change from the previous period and a supporting figure.

Which dates are compared

Each measure uses the latest date with results in the selected period and the latest date with results in the previous period. The overview compares those two dates; it does not average across either period.

Use Visibility trend to see how coverage and visibility moved day by day.

Keywords ranking

The value is the percentage of keywords scheduled for a check on the latest date that ranked in the top 100. The supporting figure shows the count, for example 5 of 7 keywords.

The change is shown in percentage points.

Page-one visibility

The value weights each keyword by its monthly search volume. A high-volume keyword on page one raises visibility more than a low-volume one.

The supporting figure shows the page-one search volume against the total tracked search volume, for example 910 of 8,690 search volume. Keywords without a recorded search volume add nothing, so a page-one keyword with no volume leaves this measure unchanged.

Average position

The value is the mean position of keywords ranking on the latest date, rounded to one decimal place. It includes the occasional result just beyond position 100.

The supporting figure shows how many keywords the average covers, for example Across 5 ranking keywords. Keywords that are not ranking are excluded, so the average reflects ranking keywords only. This count includes any keyword just beyond position 100, so it can be slightly higher than the Keywords ranking count.

Ranking movement

The value adds up position changes for keywords that ranked on both comparison dates. A keyword moving from 8 to 5 adds 3; a keyword moving from 5 to 8 subtracts 3.

The supporting figure shows how many keywords improved and declined. Keywords that started or stopped ranking are not part of this measure.

Read the change indicators

The arrow and colour show whether performance improved, not whether the number went up.

Indicator Meaning
Green ↑ Performance improved
Red ↓ Performance declined
No change The value is the same on both dates
No comparison available The previous period has no result to compare

For Average position, a lower number is better, so a fall from 39 to 23 shows as a green ↑ 16 positions.

Open a card's details

Select a card to open its details panel beneath the cards. The panel explains the measure and shows the current and previous figures.

Card Details shown
Keywords ranking Current and previous ranking keywords against scheduled keywords
Page-one visibility Current and previous page-one search volume against total search volume
Average position Current and previous averages with the number of keywords each covers
Ranking movement Keywords improved and declined, and keywords newly ranking and no longer ranking

How the filters affect the overview

The overview reflects the selected market, category, search engine and date range. With a category selected, every measure covers only keywords in that category on each date.

Measures in exports

The export uses longer names for two measures and adds one more.

Keywords ranking Ranking coverage
Ranking movement Net position change
Not shown Data coverage: the share of scheduled keyword checks included in the latest results

Troubleshooting

Page-one visibility is 0% although keywords rank on page one

Those keywords have no recorded search volume. Visibility is weighted by search volume, so they add nothing.

Ranking movement is 0 although keywords changed

Only keywords ranking on both dates count. Keywords that started or stopped ranking appear in the card's details and in Keyword performance.

The overview and the competitive benchmark show different figures

The two sections use different dates and definitions. The overview counts positions 1–100 against scheduled keywords on the latest date with any results. The benchmark counts any recorded position against keywords with results on the latest date with competitor results.

The overview figures differ from an earlier export

New ranking results arrived since the export, or the dashboard filters differ.
