Keyword Management

Manage Keywords brings websites, target keywords, categories, markets and competitors together within the active workspace.

Overview

Use Manage Keywords to control what Wheremore tracks and how that data is organised. The area contains three tabs: Keywords, Markets and Competitors.

The records follow a clear relationship:

  1. A workspace contains the websites available to the signed-in user.
  2. A website is the domain whose search performance is being managed.
  3. Keywords are the target search terms saved against a website.
  4. Categories organise a website’s keywords into useful groups.
  5. A market defines where and how a website’s keywords are tracked.
  6. Competitors are selected for a specific market and search engine.

Wheremore uses the word market in the interface. Some older areas call the same concept a search group.

Access and workspace scope

Manage Keywords uses the active workspace. Changing workspace reloads the available websites, keywords, categories, markets and competitors.

Only records available to the signed-in user appear. Changes affect the shared workspace data, so collaborators with access to the same records will see the result.

Quick start

  1. Select the workspace that contains the website.
  2. Choose a website from the Website selector.
  3. Add or organise keywords on the Keywords tab.
  4. Create a tracking setup on the Markets tab.
  5. Select comparison domains on the Competitors tab.

Understand the workspace

Website selector

Select All websites for a combined management view or choose one website for focused work. Category management and keyword metric refreshes require a specific website.

Select Manage websites & categories to open the side panel for website and category controls.

Keywords tab

The Keywords tab lists each saved search term with its website, categories, search volume and keyword difficulty. It also provides search, category filtering, sorting, pagination, keyword creation and metric refresh controls.

Keywords can be saved before a market exists. They remain organised in Wheremore but do not start ranking checks until a market is added.

Markets tab

A market combines a website, market name, location, device and one or more search engines. Active markets collect ranking data for the website’s keywords.

Pausing a market stops new scheduled checks without deleting its configuration. Deleting a market removes its associated ranking data.

Competitors tab

Competitors are configured for one market and one search engine at a time. The available list is ordered by the keywords each domain shares with the tracked website.

Saved competitors feed relevant comparison charts and analyses. Changing market or engine loads the selection for that exact scope.

What should I do next?

Need Next guide
Add or remove a tracked website Manage Domains
Organise keyword groups Manage Categories
Add search terms or refresh metrics Manage Keywords and Keyword Metrics
Define a location, device and engine Manage Markets
Choose domains for comparison Manage Competitors

Safe management order

Use this order when setting up a new website:

  1. Add the website.
  2. Create useful categories.
  3. Add the target keywords.
  4. Add at least one market.
  5. Select competitors for each required market and engine.

Keywords can be added before or after a market. Adding a market later connects the website’s existing keywords to that tracking setup.

Deletion order

Delete dependent records before removing a website:

  1. Change any alert that refers to a market.
  2. Delete the website’s markets.
  3. Delete the website.

Wheremore blocks website deletion while markets remain. A confirmation message explains which records will also be removed.

Troubleshooting

The expected website is missing

  1. Check the active workspace.
  2. Confirm access to the website.
  3. Refresh Manage Keywords after a workspace change.

A control is unavailable

Select a specific website instead of All websites. Controls that change website-specific categories or metrics remain unavailable in the combined view.

Saved keywords show no rankings

Open Markets and confirm that the website has an active market. Saving a keyword organises it; an active market starts ranking checks.

Data changed after switching workspace

This is expected. Each workspace has its own available websites and management scope.

Frequently asked questions

Are website and domain the same here?

Yes. The interface calls the tracked domain a website.

Are market and search group the same?

Yes. Market is the current user-facing term.

Does adding a keyword start tracking immediately?

It starts tracking when the website has an active market. Without a market, the keyword remains saved but untracked.

Can collaborators see my changes?

Collaborators with access to the same workspace and records will see shared changes.
